From Chris Jarmick . . .
"A quick announcement to let you know about the reading taking place this Wednesday February 10th, 2010 at at Parkplace Books in Kirkland. 348 Parkplace Center, Park Place Books, Kirkland WA
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Featured Poet: Robert Lashley and Open Mic
Robert Lashley is our featured poet. Late last year Radical Lunchbox Press combined the best poems in Robert’s three chapbooks to produce Songs My City Taught Me. The very limited press run sold out immediately and new copies of his book will be available at the reading.
Robert is traveling from Bellingham to do the reading—on extremely short notice I might add, so please grab a friend or two and be part of it.
If you don’t know what a gifted Northwest poet Robert is, it is time for you to experience him LIVE. His reading style varies from almost traditional spoken word to what some might call Slam but is really Southern Baptist Gospel Reading/Preaching style. Robert preaches a unique often autobiographical truth. He grew up in Tacoma, attended Western in Bellingham, was a semi-finalist for the PEN/Rosenthal fellowship, has published 3 chapbooks and a few revisions of them over the last 18 months and also maintains a blog The Brother Got To Write. He writes essays, criticisms in various journals like Blogcritics Magazine and… his new shiny book will be available at the reading in time for Valentine’s Day gift giving/getting; Songs My City Taught Me.
Bring a friend and a poem or two to read, we will have an open mic before and after Robert’s reading.
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday February 9, 2010 PEN and Take a Poem From Your Heart present 2nd Wednesday Parkplace Books Poetry in Kirkland. Featured Poet Robert Lashley and Open Mic - Wednesday February 10th, 2010.
Longer Poetry Message will be sent out on Wednesday.
Please put it on your calendar; hope to see you there.
Keep writing.
Chris Jarmick"
