This monthly event features a distinguished writer and an open mic for poets, playwrights, short story writers, and others. This month features Brian Desmond. Open Mic sign-up is at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. The event occurs monthly the second Friday of every month at King's Books. Sponsored by the Tacoma Arts Commission and the Puget Sound Poetry Connection. Brian Desmond was born in Cyprus and has lived in Iran, Ecuador, Madagascar, Okinawa, and England, as well as numerous places in North America. He is a published poet, has worked in both film and television, and has recorded numerous books on tape. In addition to his work as a professional actor, director, and playwright, Brian has served as the Artistic Director of both Theater at Lime Kiln and the Washington Shakespeare Company. He has taught Theatre and English courses at universities in Virginia, California, and Washington, and he is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Pacific Lutheran University.
