THICK: Dance and Spoken Word Investigating the Gulf Spill Aftermath

This original choreography will feature dancers from BQ Dance and spoken word from Lucas Smiraldo's recent piece "Internal" which investigates the impact on wildlife from the gulf oil spill.

"Volcano Poetry Slam" emceed by spoken word artist Kimberly Dark.

This high-energy, audience-judged poetry competition is open to the public, both as audience members and participating poets. First time and returning poets with new material are welcome. Up to 15 poets can compete, with poets chosen by lottery that evening at 7 p.m. sharp. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 finalists. Five judges are chosen from volunteer audience members.
