Update: The Speak Your Soul open mic in Hilo has moved to Surf Break Cafe on Kino'ole Street in Downtown.

Join us May 7th for an open mic and featured poet from Speakyoursoul.org or our Hawai'i Island community. We will begin at 7pm; open mic sign-ups also start at 7pm. The open mic is open to all styles of poetry, especially poems intended to build a better world.

This May 13th, we are honored to have Dr.Martín Espada, poet, essayist, and Pulitzer Prize finalist as the final featured performer for the "Arts and Empowerment" Spring 2010 series at the UW Tacoma.

Joining him this evening will be Tacoma's own Speak Your Soul poet and author of "Songs my City Taught Me", Robert Lashley. In addition, two Tahoma West poets - Star Angelina Murray and Therese Ferreria-Douglas will share their work with us!
